POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you a proven construction leader ready to make a real impact? Stevens Construction is looking for an experienced General Superintendent to join our growing team in Fort Myers!

As a General Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in overseeing field operations, mentoring Superintendents and field staff, and ensuring our projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with exceptional quality and safety. You’ll lead with integrity, drive results, and help shape the future of commercial construction across Florida.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight and Leadership:

  • Responsible for completing projects on schedule, on budget, and with high quality while ensuring a safe work environment and adherence to SCI values.
  • Oversee and assist Superintendents.
  • Mentor and educate Superintendents and field staff.
  • Assist with field manpower allocation.
  • Manage company-owned tools and equipment allocations.
  • Manage warranty work.
  • Participate in pre-award meetings with subcontractors as needed.
  • Assist Project Managers in the development of master project schedules as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Manage the Safety Program and lead the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and adherence to SCI Safety Manual and all OSHA standards for all parties on SCI projects.
  • Attend AHCA inspections as required.
  • Attend weekly Project Management meetings as needed.

Project Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Participate in job start-up meetings with the SCI team (Superintendent, Project Administrator, Project Engineer) to clearly define roles.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings led by Project Managers with the design team and owners on-site to establish points of contact for each party, RFI, and Submittal processes.
  • Participate in on-site OAC meetings led by Project Managers, as needed.
  • Attend weekly subcontractor coordination meetings led by Superintendents, as needed.
  • Work with Superintendents and Project Managers to implement and maintain the master project schedule.
  • Review two-week look-ahead schedules with Superintendents/Project Managers and track them against the overall project schedule.
  • Perform weekly or bi-weekly jobsite inspections and review job walk checklists for compliance.
    • Site appearance from street is in order
    • Daily Logs are being completed
    • 2 week look aheads are being completed
    • 6 week look ahead is posted and being tracked with Milestone dates
    • Project schedule is posted on site and being tracked by super
    • RFI and submittal logs are being updated
    • As-builts are being updated weekly
    • SCI Safety measures are being followed

Problem-Solving and Training:

  • Work with Superintendents, subcontractors, and design professionals to anticipate and solve problems before they negatively impact project schedules, budgets, or quality.
  • Assist with preconstruction services, as needed.
  • Prepare and assist with the implementation of field-related standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in the onboarding process.
  • Manage the field training process.
  • Understands his/her contribution to achieving the five-year strategic plan and the annual plan.
  • Understands and operates under the company’s SOP’s at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a 10+ years of related field or extensive experience in construction and field operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully overseeing and completing complex construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide and educate Superintendents and field staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations, OSHA standards, and safety programs.
  • Proficiency in project management, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address issues that may impact project schedules, budgets, or quality.
  • Familiarity with construction software and technology.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and adhering to company values.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous training and development to stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, or similar software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To fulfill the essential duties of this position, team members must be able to meet certain physical demands. The team member is occasionally required to stand and walk for extended periods of time on a construction site with uneven terrain. The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The team member should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, or dust, depending on the project's location and nature. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
